Regarding Thefts From Motor Vehicles Thefts of items from vehicles are
one of the most frequent crimes being perpetrated against area residents.
State and local police are being inundated with reports and often have no
investigative leads to go on. It is, however, also one of the easiest crimes
to prevent. Criminals often target crimes of opportunity that offer the least
resistance. In this case, they target unlocked vehicles in search of
valuables within (often items left in plain view). Simply
locking your car or truck and removing valuables from within will go a long way
in preventing you from becoming a victim. If you are away from home and
need to secure valuable items, place them in the trunk. Do not leave items in
plain view. ______________________________________________ ReadyNotifyPA ReadyNotifyPA is a community alert system that allows citizens and visitors to

TOWNSHIP ROADMASTER Please make sure that you do not
have any plantings, large rocks, or any other ornamental items within the
township right-of-way which is a designated on both sides of a roadbed. Keep in mind that mailboxes fall within the
roadway right-of-way and not only divert water but also can obstruct the
sight distance for motorists. Township
right-of-way distances vary. If you
need further clarification, please contact the township office at (610)
869-8658. STORMWATER: RULES OF THUMB Garden With Care! Fertilize with care. Select low phosphorus (P) lawn fertilizers, do not apply near water bodies or storm
drains, and sweep excess fertilizer back onto your lawn. Avoid application of
lawn care chemicals before heavy rains. Allow grass to go dormant during
periods of drought. Mow less frequently–longer grass has deeper roots and
needs less water. Consider using native plants, they need far less water and
chemicals to flourish in your garden.
Install a rain garden or an old-fashioned rain barrel to collect
excess rainwater. This water can be used to water during dry spells. Mulching
helps retain water, control weeds and pests. Take Care of your Car! Take good care of your car- fix any leaks promptly,
and dispose of used oil and other fluids properly. Wash your car on the lawn,
or take it to the car wash. Pick up after your pet! Not only is it the considerate thing to do, it also
keeps harmful bacteria out of our water supply. Dispose of the waste in the
toilet or the trash. Dispose of Waste Properly! Instead of dumping unwanted products at home,
transport them to a local hazardous waste center or landfill. Contact your New London Township Office (610)
869-8658 for disposal locations and guidelines. Sweep it up! Use a broom instead of your hose to clean debris off
sidewalks and driveways. Sweep dirt
back onto the lawn. ______________________________________________________________________ FREE STUFF: From the West Grove Fire Company Website: The West Grove Fire Company was awarded a
Federal Grant for Smoke Detectors and other Fire Prevention Material. This
award was presented for the Year 2004, and we received the material in late
2005. Part of this Grant was to purchase smoke detectors with a 10 year
lithium power battery so that high risk people will have a device that will
continue to operate for 10 years without the need to change its battery. We
also have purchased detectors that are designed for the hearing impaired.
These particular units will be installed by an insured and bonded electrician
at our expense. Visit their website at http://www.wgfc.org/
and go to the menu on the left side and click on smoke detectors to submit
your request. - From the Chester County Department
