Planning Commission Minutes for 7/24/03

The working meeting of the New London Township Planning Commission opened at 7 p.m.  Present were: Thomas Mahaney, vice-chair; Margaret Healy, secretary; Robert Barto; Frank McBerty; and Frank Piorko.

Work with Consultant

Mr. David Sweet, consultant, was present with revised ordinance drafts for consideration by the Planning Commission.

He (Mr. Sweet) agreed to re-work regulations for townhouses and the ground needed for each unit.  He will also rework the wording for deeds of dedication.

On the question of how to make people aware of the existence of undeveloped streets that may connect developments in the future, it was agreed to require curbing radii for undeveloped streets (at the townships discretion).

It was agreed to clarify the intent that the optimal street connections between developments would have the first developer do the grading and the second developer the paving.

There was considerable discussion of the best way to handle private open space.  It was agreed that some standard should exist on the number of accessory building that could be built.  Mr. Sweet will draft a proposal.  It was also decided to omit golf courses from this option.

After discussion of likes and dislikes from the tour, it was agreed that Mr. Sweet will include guest parking and clustered mailboxes located away from the front of a subdivision in revised ordinances.
